Hello everyone:
Long time no see! Time flies so quickly. The second semester has started and I have spent almost 6 months in the U.S.
In the past six months, I have celebrated Christmas and Thanksgiving day with my dear host family. It is the first time for me to celebrate Christmas in the U.S. I prepared some good stuff for my host family----- a pearl necklace for my host mother, a Fitbit for my little brother, and some coffee beans for my host father. I think I must have the best host family because all of them are so nice to me.
My host father, Thom, is an awesome cook and all of the food that he cooks is attractive to me. The Mushroom Swiss Burger is the best for me in the U.S and Culver’s has the best one in Janesville. Everyday, the thing that makes me most happy is getting to eat the excellent food from my host father.
My host mother is a woman who has a deep love for jewely, and that’s why I choose the pearl necklace for her Christmas gift.
Meanwhile, Sallie is also a very self-controlled woman and she likes to arrange everything regularly.
The thing that I want to do the most is sleep all day. However, my host mother always opposes my lazy behavior and she told me, “Annie, you’ll have enough time to sleep when you are dead.”
The most special person in our house must be Grayson- a child who is hard to describe. In China, we usually name the child who is annoying BEAR CHILD. I don’t know why a 9-year-old child is even stronger than me. Every time he wants to fight with me using parlors and the football. Without doubt, the one who always loses is me.
OH BOY, I need to study some kung-fu when I come back to China for beating him in the future. However, I can’t deny that Grayson is a talented boy. He always created some amazing songs by himself.
Last week, I watched a really good movie named “ The Post”. The movie is about a lie of the U.S government about the Vietnam War and the unprecedented battle between the press and the government. I am so touched for these press workers in this story---- just protecting the normal people’s rights, not extolling for the government.
After watching the movie, I strengthened my determination to be an investigative reporter. Investigating the truth is what I would like to do no matter how dangerous it will be. We are born in a time which fake news is everywhere. Why don’t we have the opportunity to see the facts under the different lies?
Thank you for reading this article, and I hope everyone has a wonderful semester. Soon after, the weather in Wisconsin will become warmer.
