bluebirds win ot thriller

The Bluebirds win the playoff opener in an overtime thriller on February 15th against #5 seed Beloit Memorial.
After giving up two quick goals at the beginning of the game, the Bluebirds settle into their rhythm and tie the game.
The Bluebirds killed a 5 on 3 power play in a hard hitting first period. The energy of the fans was unreal. The fans were more involved in the game than the players!
The first period ended with a tied score, 2-2. Most of the first period was played on the Beloit Memorial High School (BMHS) side of the rink.
The Janesville Bluebird’s roster consists of 18 athletes, with 15 of them being from CHS. Around 80 Craig students arrived to cheer on the team by the end of first period.
By the end of the second period, the teams were still tied. The score doubled to 4-4. With Ben Coulter scoring three goals in the game so far, the Bluebirds battled back from behind every period.
This game is a matchup between two evenly skilled teams. The third period closes with a tie of 5-5 as the game heads into overtime. Beloit missed several shots, leaving a chance of victory for the Bluebirds.
Craig Senior Kyle Kobs approached the net, shooting the puck in hopes of a game winning shot. The puck goes into the net and the crowd cheers. The Bluebirds pulled off a 6-5 win against the #5 seed in the state in overtime.
The team went on to play the #1 team in the sectional, Waukesha North on Tuesday, February 20. The Janesville Bluebirds fought hard, but lost 5-1.
