California fires

The California fires started on October 12, 2017. So far, the fires have caused 43 fatalities and 208 non-fatal injuries. Nine of the injured are firefighters.
Over a million acres are engulfed in the fires. Together, the half dozen fires have scorched more than 180,000 acres in a week. Official revealed that the fires destroyed 792 structures.
Most of the fires have burned near Los Angeles and parts of southern California, and have forced thousands to evacuate from their homes. With no end in sight, it looks like more of California will be evacuated.
Firefighters are working relentlessly to stop these fires from getting worse, even though the forecast, which calls for extreme wind could challenge the firefighters’ attempts. California Fire Director Ken Pimlott says, “We continue to make real good progress on all of these fires, but we are far from being out of the woods.”
Although the situation seems hopeless, California’s residents are doing what they can. Everyone is still putting in time and effort to help fire relief charities.
