College Corner: UW-Whitewater offers great learning close to home

Among the many great colleges in Wisconsin is UW-Whitewater, established 1868.
An interesting point about the school is the lower cost of tuition in comparison to other Wisconsin public schools. For a student from Wisconsin, tuition is about $14,000, whereas Out- of-State tuition is about $22,000.
There many different types of majors and minors for students at UW-Whitewater. The university provides more than 50 majors and 119 minors. 13 master’s degree programs and 16 post-baccalaureate certificate programs are offered as well as a program for Education Specialists, and a Doctorate of Business Administration.
UW-Whitewater, established 1868, offers a strong system of academics outside the Undergraduate system.
In the Fall of 2015, 1,209 students enrolled in Graduate programs. Since the summer of 1964, 15,141 students have graduated with a Master’s Degree.
UW-Whitewater offers nine different Division III sports for boys and eleven for girls. Even though it is tough for students to get on the competitive sports teams, they could always end up playing for the club sport instead. Club sports offer an option for the students to do something that they love while meeting other students.
UW-Whitewater is composed of 13 residence halls, with some of them including a fitness room and a cafe. The campus is made up of 400 acres and is near Milwaukee, WI and the Kettle Moraine State Forest. It’s only 31 minutes away from Janesville and is on Main Street in Whitewater.
UW-Whitewater is one of the best colleges for students with learning disabilities. The school has received many awards for its accommodations to the disabled.
The university is filled with tons of clubs a student can join, including clubs based on what your major is and your career plans after college. Many different clubs are offered for students with a major in Education.
