College corner
Visits help narrow choices and find a match
December by madalyn thompson
High school is a strange thing.
It’s full of uncertainty, stress and the dreaded exam day.
It’s full of many things, but it’s through these things that it leads us to our future.
The thing is though we have to work for those futures, at least the ones we want, and it’s those ones that we have to prepare for and work toward.
For many, those futures start with going to college than smooth sailing it to the perfecting job.
Sadly that’s not always how it turns out, and it’s be- cause of that you’ve got to plan for the unexpected.
I am not saying that’s go- ing to stop the inevitable from happening, but it could potentially cause a smaller discrepancy
when it does eventually occur.
So it’s never a bad idea to start scouting colleges early, in hopes to prevent the anguish of feeling that you choose the wrong college or major.
This can be overpassed by visiting the colleges that visit Craig or in turn going to visit them at the campus and seeing first hand what it’s like in a college class, along with a million other things.
I recently did that myself and visited the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
I got firsthand experience going up and down their mighty hill separating upper and lower
campus.
I was able to see a few dorm rooms and what is provided in each dorming ‘house’ of sorts.
I met with actual students from the school and heard what they have to say about the school and what it offers
to those interested in attend- ing it in the future.
Now I haven’t signed any- thing saying I’m for sure go- ing there or anything, but I know it would be a school that I could see myself going to.
However, there are many schools out there for me to consider and cross out.
I recommend that all of you to take college visits if you can.
By going on college visits, you discover what works for you and what doesn’t t for your lifestyle.
By doing such things you can hopefully prevent feeling lost in the future and know exactly what you want to do with the rest of your life.
I know it helped me.
