Cougars Care! students and staff raise money for holiday charities
December 21, 2017
Craig’s students and staff have been in a giving mood this holiday season!
Across the district, staff donated over $40,000 to this year’s Bags of Hope drive, which exceeded the goal.
Freshman Thomas Lyon has raised over $1500 to help edu- ate girls in Africa.
The senior class won the penny war and will be treated to a showing of the holiday movie “Elf” on Thursday start- ing sixth hour.
Students raised over $1600 during December, and Craig will receive some matching do- nations in the coming weeks.
Last year student council donated almost $8000 to project 16:49, and this year the students have selected the Cougar Closet and ECHO to be the beneficiaries.
The International Club is collecting toys to donate to an orphanage in Ghana (see story on page 1).
And the Cougars Cares/Closet campaign continues to accept donations of clothing and money to give to the neediest of Craig’s families!
They have given away hundreds of dollars in gift cards and clothing and other house- hold necessities to needy families.

The meaning of the season
december 21, 2017 by madalyn thompson
The holiday season has many different meanings to everyone it touches. For those who don’t celebrate the holidays that come with the break from school and work, then it’s mostly just a break from the regular tedious days of the year. For those who do celebrate the holidays that come along with the break it can mean things like the birth of Jesus Christ, the rededication of the second temple in Jerusalem, or the first harvest.
No matter what it is you celebrate there is something that everyone seems to connect with the long winter break.
When asked exactly what the upcoming holiday sea- son meant to them it didn’t take long for any of them to answer...
Family, Friendship, and re- charging my batteries.
-Mrs. Pumilia
Not having to go to school, and spending time with my dogs.
-Sam Rolon
Spending time with family
-Ashton Mickelson
So no matter what it is you plan to do this break or what it is you celebrate it is more than certain at some point that means spending time with loved ones, the best sort of gift to cherish this holiday season.
