student council donates $5500
to Cougar closet, echo
The student council donated $5,500 to the Cougar Closet They also ad- opted a family from Echo and bought them Christmas presents with a portion of the money they raised.
In order to get the funds, they hosted the Winter Bash and ran weekly fund- raisers, including Penny Wars, ticket sales, and bell ring- ing.
Claire Mikkelson said, “We chose the Closet because December is a month of giving and we felt the best way to do that would be through theCraig community in order to give our fellow classmates better holidays. We hope our donation helped all of the students struggling in Craig High School by giving them opportunities and happier holidays."
She added, "To me the chance to help our school and my classmates is extremely rewarding."
In accepting the award Closet volunteer and social studies teacher Mrs. Nickel said, "
We feel incredibly grateful. This is one of the largest donations we have ever received?”
Mrs. Nickel looks forward to all thE help this donation will provide.
"It will be used to help the students at Craig High School,” she said. “It will be used for clothes, school supplies, hygiene products, snacks. Whatever they need that they can’t get on their own.”
