The Oscars continue to interest and inspire aspiring filmmakers and actors and provide a source of annual entertainment.
On March 4, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, Jimmy Kimmel hosted the 90th Academy Awards.
Nine films were nominated for Best Picture including Call Me By Your Name, The Post, Darkest Hour, Dunkirk, Get Out, Lady Bird, Phantom Thread, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
The Shape of Water notably took home the Oscar for Best Picture, Best Director for Guillermo del Toro, Best Original Score, and Best Production Design. Winning the most awards of any nominated movie, The Shape of Water received four awards out of thirteen nominations.
Gary Oldman won Best Actor for his role in Darkest Hour, while Frances McDormand won Best Actress for her role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
Sam Rockwell won Best Supporting Actor for his part in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, while Allison Janney received Best Supporting Actress for her part as LaVona Golden in I, Tonya.
Kobe Bryant received Best Animated Short Film for his composition of Dear Basketball, a short film about a poem that he crafted.
Several of the nominated and award-winning films can be rented or purchased on DVD.
