Young woman of distinction: Anne Runde receives YWCA award
by david holmquist
On Tuesday, Feb. 6, senior Anne Runde was named the YWCA Young Woman of Distinction
This is an award given by the local YWCA. Dr. Bjoin nominated her, citing Anne’s FFA involvement, her work with the Pink Pumpkin Patch in October, her work with elementary schools, and her academic and athletic achievements. “ Anne is an accomplished student, a talented athlete, a fine young woman, and a most deserving recipient of this award,” said Bjoin. A luncheon will be held in Anne’s honor in April. The award does not come with a scholarship, but it nevertheless carries a lot of weight in terms of college and career access. “It is a very prestigious award,” said Bjoin. Along with her friends and teammates, Craig’s entire administrative team and Superintendent Steven Pofahl were on hand during her third hour class to surprise her with the news. Plus, the class happened to be her ag class taught by her mother, Diane Runde. Read more about Anne’s achievements and the text of Dr. Bjoin’s nomination letter in our next issue. |
