Chinese students are almost finished with their one exchange year in Craig High School.
This year for them has been challenging and wonderful. The Chinese student program is a unique program.
Students need to finish their senior year in Craig and finish all the same mandatory courses as many of the local students.
From 2017-2018, a lot of memorable things have happened around them.
Each Chinese student was hosted by one American host family.
Every Chinese student must have a lot of memories with their host family.
“My host parents took us to the trip and invited us to go to small party with their relatives. They are nice to us,” said Justin (Zian zhu).
Alan (Yaoji Wang) also had his experience with the host family to share.
“I lived in my host family on the 20th August last year, my host family were very happy for me to live in their home. And the family members are very helpful when I got in trouble in my daily life and in my study life. My host mom cooked very delicious dinner for me every work night. And we always talked about something happen in a day when we had dinner. My host family always pay attention to my grades in the high school because it is very significant for me to graduate from the school. I was very appreciative to my host family.”
For living in Janesville one year, one thing Chinese students missed a lot must be their hometown’s food.
They tried to find some wonderful restaurants in this small town.
The most traditional Chinese restaurant they went a lot must be New King Wok in downtown.
The also evaulated Asian Bistro and Fuji to be the best restaurants in Janesville.
The time spent in Craig also have a lot of different memories for Chinese students.
Coming to the Homecoming dance and the prom, those things they never had it must become the unique things they encountered in the United States.
Most of teachers in Craig High School all provided a lot of help for Chinese students.
Some of them want to say thank you for the teachers who gave them a lot of encouragement and help.
“Thank you for Matthew Hellman and Jennifer Barmore,” said Justin (Zian Zhu
“Thank you for Mark Lajiness and Jennifer Barmore,” said Vanessa (Siyu Huang)
“Thank you for Robert Ward and Thomas Ulrich,” said Fame (Yudan Ding).
The senior year almost down for these Chinese students, and most of them chose to come back in the summer break and go to college at fall.
Time spent in Craig must become one of the most vulnerable memories in their life.
We--and they--hope all of them have a good future.
